Each cartridge contains approximately 2 1/1 pounds of plastic and cartridges as well as
1 pound of aluminum and steel.
Each industrial plastic casing takes about 1000 years to decompose.
Every year, 100 millions of ink cartridges end up in the dumps. In North America alone, more than 350 millions of cartridges per year are thrown away and this number is increasing at the rate of 12% annually. Each thrown cartridge ads more than 3 ½ pounds of solid plastic waste in the dump sites.
For the injection of plastic necessary for the fabrication of one cartridge
l. . 2 ounces ½ of oil are utilized to produce each new jet ink cartridge.
2. 3 liters of oil are utilized to produce each new toner cartridge.
